The Knowledge Integration Tool Sets, or KITS, is a knowledge management system with enhanced search capabilities. The NTTC initially developed this system for NASA and has adapted it to give clients in industry, academia and federal agencies simplified access to information from multiple, heterogeneous sources, in multiple locations.
KITS allows for the seamless, transparent integration of search functionality for databases, Web sources, file repositories, and other data sources. The system is scalable, which allows the inclusion of any number of additional databases or Web sources.
By using KITS, clients can:
- Index disparate data stored in various databases.
- Create personalized knowledgebases to store information such as Web sites, database information and files, and corresponding indices.
- Define personalized categories for data analysis.
- Identify and target specific data sources that provide valuable information and have the highest potential for yielding useful results and data.
